There recently was some tests done on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows XP to see which one was better with handling multicores. Funny thing is, Windows XP won. Windows XP proved to have better efficiency when using multicore systems but Window's Vista and Window's 7 takes better advantage of the multiple cores.

I think Windows XP is still the best OS out now
Vista is like an unfinished product and has lots of its own glitches
Just skip Vista and wait for Windows 7
